St Johns Igloo Village
Cosy up in one of St Johns' private igloo spaces this winter.
Overview
St Johns Bar and Restaurant is bringing back its cosy and private transparent igloos so you can embrace the chilly Wellington winter weather right on the waterfront.
From Thursday, July 28, book you and the crew in for a two-hour immersive dining experience in one of the five private igloos at the Cable Street venue. Each space comes decked out with comfy chairs, soft cushions and twinkling fairy lights.
To warm you up from the moment you arrive, pick your preferred Grey Goose vodka-based cocktail. You might opt for a Pear Patch with raspberry-infused vodka, pear puree and lemon juice, an Igloo Espresso Martini featuring Liquor 43, Kahlua and coffee, or our personal pick, a Bounty — infused with vodka, Baileys, coconut syrup and cream.
To line your tum, graze on a charcuterie board scattered with cured meats, relish, hummus, marinated veg and fresh brioche. Then it's time to tuck into a lavish main course: a platter of Blue Warehou fillets with tarragon bearnaise, free farmed crispy pork belly with mustard seed jus, char-grilled NZ rump with truffled mushroom sauce, turmeric and coconut oil roasted gourmet potatoes, sesame soy braised fennel and bok choy.
And to finish (if you still have room), scoff down a chocolate torte with raspberries, and coconut and key lime tartlets with thyme honey.
If you book in during the week (Monday to Thursday) you can nab a 3pm or 6pm slot for $69pp. More slots are available on the weekend, when it will cost you $79pp: Friday bookings are at 3pm, 6pm and 9pm while Saturday slots cater for groups at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm.
If you prefer your igloo session as a treatment for the Sunday scaries, you can book in at the end of the week at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm. If previous years are anything to go by, bookings are essential so round up the crew and head to the St Johns website to nab your slot.
