Overview

What do you get when you cross the quintessentially flamboyant stage dramatics that define an Andrew Lloyd Webber production with a troupe of seasoned improvisational actors? Wellington's Playshop performance company invite you to find out, with their newest production Suddenly! A Musical; a debut foray into the musical genre.

The choice of the word suddenly hints at the surprises in store for both audience and cast, as Playshop willingly allows the the mad, mad world of musical theatre to hijack 'normal' programming. As with any improvisational performance, suggestions are fielded from the audience to dictate the action, all in pursuit of collectively building an original Webber-style masterpiece each night.

Jennifer O’Sullivam, long time Webber aficionado and director of the show delights at the memory of hearing a recording of Cats at a young age, recalling that "somehow a bunch of cats singing never struck me as odd, only magic". Such is the universe altering power of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Bring along your musical wrongs to be righted.
