The Koru Hour

An elite travel drama in New Zealand's premier airport lounge.

Overview

The experience of flying is often so exhausting, terrifying and confusing that by the time you step on a plane it almost seems calming. Wellington's comedy collective Neon Fruit has delved into some of the worst parts of the airport and exposed them for our shameful pleasure — and I'm not talking about bungling the security line with your forgotten laptop again.

The Koru Hour is a full 60 minutes of untapped comedy gold. The audience watches in horror as the improve troupe haw-haws its way across the stage, making a beeline for the free Kapiti cheeses and a glass of sauv. In true documentary style the audience can only sit back and watch as the Downton Abbey of the Koru Lounge takes over.

The Koru Hour will have a run at BATS Theatre from May 7–11, and will be performed every evening at 7.30pm. Ticket prices vary from $13 to $18. The Koru Lounge is such a universally understood topic – be sure to bring your flatmates, workmates or cabin-crew mates along for the hour.
