Overview

The sounds, tastes, aromas and colours of India will be on full show along the waterfront this weekend as Wellington's annual Diwali Festival returns for 2020. The ancient Hindu festival, and the celebratory lighting of lamps, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the renewal of life.

On Sunday, 25 October, waterfront venues TSB Arena and Shed 6 will serve up a diverse spread of stalls offering vegetarian Indian food, arts, crafts, fashion and henna. This year, the six-hour non-stop program of entertainment will see local artists showcasing traditional Giddha and Bhangra and contemporary Bollywood performances.

Later, the Frank Kitts Park promenade will the spot to watch a giant fireworks display take flight over the harbour. Entry is by gold coin donation.
