Overview
In line with this month’s Winter Zine Market, a series of Zine-Making workshops will take place at both the Central Library and Thistle Hall.
The creative outlet for many innovators and DIY enthusiasts, zines are self-published, mini-magazines that typically contain text and images reproduced by hand or photocopier.
Local visual artist and zine-making expert Kerry Ann Lee will be on hand to help attendees create their own zine from resources available at the library. Lee is known for self-published fanzines Help, My Snowman's Burning, Celebretard and Permanent Vacation. The latter presents work by a network of artist, writers, makers and thinkers responding to a given theme, produced in a limited run of 400 copies. Since 2010, it has been represented at international zine fairs and exhibitions around the world, including exhibitions in Sydney, Kiev, and at the Frankfurt Book Fair. She most recently ran workshops at Te Papa and Pataka Art + Museum.
The first session will take place at the Central Library from 2.30 - 5pm, followed by an evening session at the Thistle Hall from 6.30 - 9pm.
