Overview
In a world rife with food wastage, too often do consumers bite off a bit more than they can chew and are left with half-eaten groceries, binned leftovers, and a pool of unused soy sauce at the end of a sushi feast.
Thankfully, someone is finally listening to their focus groups. Japanese manufacturer Fukuma Soy Sauce has changed the sushi-to-soy-sauce-ratio ballgame with the introduction of their new Sushi Spray. Now, instead of accidentally drowning delectable sushi in too much of the salty stuff and increasing the world's waste, you can just spray on as much soy sauce as your tastebuds require.
Sure, it might not be as novel as squeezable little fishies, and the action of spraying is perhaps a little less dainty than a squeeze or a dip, but a spritz of soy sauce is surely the best way to ensure even but subtle salt coverage. (What happens for people who enjoy creating a wasabi soy sauce mixture is a question that Fukuma are yet to answer).
So why didn't anyone think of this before? Is Fukuma all that inventive in the sprayable condiment realm? Not much innovation by condiment manufacturers themselves has ever really taken off the ground although there is no shortage of people keen to pour semi-fluids into spray bottles a la this sprayable Sriracha hot sauce home invention.
Fukuma haven't confirmed whether the Sushi Spray will be available outside Japan but until it is, you could take inspiration from these guys and relax knowing that soy sauce efficiency does actually exist.
