In yet another blow for Auckland's hospitality scene, one of the city's most-beloved little coffee spots has announced it's shutting its doors in February.

Grey Lynn stalwart Crumb has been keeping locals fed and caffeinated since it first opened back in 2015.

The pup-friendly spot has become well known for its relaxed atmosphere and chatty crew, with many a local spending a sunny afternoon stretched out on the beanbags outside, or following #dogsofcrumb on Instgram — IYKYK. The cafe's stacked winter porridge bowls, seasonal toasts and speciality Easter hot cross buns all kept us coming back.

Now the owners have announced the Grey Lynn spot, known for its particularly LGBTQI+ friendly atmosphere, is sadly closing its doors.

"Unfortunately we can't extend our lease past the end of February so we'l be packing up shop," the cafe announced in an Instagram post on Tuesday, January 25. "Our last day will be 20th Feb - put it in your diaries now and book the Monday off as we'll be having one hell of a closing party."

"Thanks for the f**king memories. This community is incredible."

Owner Miles Harty also made his own statement, thanking the "wonderful group of humans" involved.

"To everyone who's ever worked here, done a one-off shift or just jumped on dishes, you've been witness to the madness. Thank you for your willingness to help us improve," he said.

"To the weird and wonderful legends who call Crumb home, I don't have the words to thank you for your support and kindness. It's literally insane that you keep coming back giving your love and money to this cafe that really isn't a cafe."

But it's not all bad news. Crumb's small coffee counter at Kensal Flowers in Kingsland will be remaining open, for you to get your Flight coffee fix and gasbagging in.

Until then, head in to support the team as they head into their final weeks of service.

Crumb can be found at 37 Ariki Street, Grey Lynn. Their last day of service will be Sunday, February 20.
