Overview

The humble kebab is the king of the most crucial meal any human can consume; the post-town feed. But Turkish food remains so much more than that and, it is just as delicious sober. That’s where Café Pasha comes in. A great Turkish restaurant that proves that the kebab should not just be relegated to 3am dining.

Cafe Pasha is an authentic, family-owned restaurant which has been serving its handmade Turkish fare to Wellingtonians for 22 years. They use no processed products in their dishes, instead making everything by hand in their kitchens using fresh ingredients and spices. The menu is extensive, and varied, providing a range of exotic options which are sure include a meal to satisfy every diner.

Their menu includes the mother of all kebabs, the Sultan ($26.50) which is pan fried chicken, capsicum, mushroom, peas, carrot and potatoes oven baked in filo pastry topped with cheese. Tender yet crunchy, flavoursome yet delicate, this meal incites kebab-appreciation at its apex.

Choosing to eat at Café Baba in order to get your kebab fix doesn’t mean that alcohol has to be entirely removed from the situation either. They are a fully licensed BYO ($5 corkage per bottle), meaning that patrons can eat their kebabs whilst sinking a beverage or two rather than waiting until a multitude have already been sunk. Best of both worlds.
