Overview

All the magic of Seashore Cabaret has been wrapped up into a bite-sized treat, and set up as a beautiful little space in Gracefield, Lower Hutt. With its truly unique exterior, Miss Fortune's is easy to spot, and already becoming a firm favourite with the locals.

It's a relaxed, light and welcoming little café, with the sounds of 1950s American favourites welcoming you and setting the scene as you walk in. Your eye is immediately drawn to the variety of house-made treats, displayed at the front counter. The vibe is great and the team that run the show are super friendly and make you feel right at home. From the initial greeting, to the suggestions coming from the staff in the kitchen, you're welcomed into the family, and it's wonderful.

White walls, plenty of greenery and beautiful bright primary coloured framed Vietnamese artworks, the space really is an oasis in the more industrial setting of Gracefield. The small outdoor patio area in the back is a nice surprise, and provides a great little spot for a lunch meeting or just somewhere to hide away in. There's plenty of seating, with regular tables and a nicely sized high table and bar stools, catering for that lunch meeting you've been meaning to plan.

Everything on the menu is made in-house, from vegan and gluten free nibbles, to the "burger of the week", and the must-try beef cheek and mushroom pies. The staff members all have their various favourites, so when asking for recommendations, we were spoilt for choice. They serve a mean cup of coffee (Good Fortune, of course) and to end off, we couldn't resist a melt in your mouth, gluten-free peanut butter cookie.

If you work in the area, lucky you, and if not, do yourself a favour and pop on by. It's a lovely little café that's a real gem in Lower Hutt.
