Overview

The rite of passage for any uni student in Wellington, Left Bank’s O.K. Cafe features prominently in the memories of any ex-student’s glazy-eyed nights. And students are the ones who fill this place up on a regular basis. The only ones not a part of that demographic are the staff.

Embrace its fluorescent lighting, plasma screens playing conventional antipodean sports (rugby, usually) and lime green walls, and in return you will get super tolerant staff and the start to an interesting night.

If you’re feeling adventurous ignore the English-translated menu and order straight off the Mandarin one. The surprise is always pleasant, albeit sometimes strange - like a dish full of mushrooms, on mushrooms, covered with mushrooms.
