Wellington Apothecary

Delivering botanical medicine in a mindfully beautiful, fresh manner.

Overview

The markers of a traditional apothecary are here—the brown glass bottles lined up on wooden shelves, the scent of herbs, oils and remedies in the air. And then you have Wellington Apothecary, recently installed in new premises on Cuba, who are delivering botanical medicine in a mindfully beautiful and fresh manner.

"We took inspiration from stores such as Aēsop," says Chantal, one of the owners of the store. It shows—in the minimal displays, the thoughtful packaging and the clean palette of whites, woods and foliage. The tactile interpretation of an apothecary interior makes it a lovely space in which to shop. If you're not versed in the practises of herbal medicines, and don't know your clove bud from your clary sage, it's a kind environment in which to learn the processes.

Opened in 2014 on Ghuznee, before expanding into their current space, the store stocks an extensive range of botanical skincare, treatments and remedies, most of which are made and packaged in-house in their kitchen space upstairs. From lotions, masques, teas, treatment oils and balms to tonics and cleansers, their own line is developed by the owners of the store. A further range of products from brands such as PAGE THIRTY THREE, The Good Oil Company serves to round out the range beautifully.

The store is owned by three ladies—Chantal, Laura and Jemma—who in addition to creating their products also bring their own strengths and previous training to the consultation side of the Apothecary. Therapies offered include naturopathy, herbal medicine, nutrition, massage, and life and wellness coaching.
