Overview

An unusual concept proving to be exactly what you never knew you needed. Hear us out on this one because we know how it sounds. In the James Cook Tower you'll find Float Well, the home to two float tank rooms. Float tank rooms are essentially a very large, egg-like bath filled with 500 kilograms of Epsom salts dissolved in 1000 litres of water. Float tank therapy sees you inside the closed tank for an hour session. It is a full sensory experience gathering all of your thoughts and disintegrating them in this strangely soothing tank.

As you float for an hour, every part of your being, including your mind comes to a slow halt. Inside the tank it's just you and a metre space between the ceiling. The idea is potentially frightening for the claustrophobic side of us but trust us when we say that's merely a past worry once you've settled in. Owners, Kevin and Sam make sure first timers are welcomed and made to feel comfortable in these bizarre tanks. As they say, "take a float off".
