Overview
The Abel Tasman National Park is the perfect spot for sea kayaking. With some of the best weather in the country, white sands, clear green and sea native bush coming down to the water's edge, you could easily think you were in paradise. Depending on your kayaking proficiency, you can take a kayak out for a day or go on a three-day guided tour. The Park doesn't allow solo kayakers so if you want to self-guide you have to be in a group of two or more. Alternatively, you can go with a guide, they're all certified through SKOANZ (or have equivalent qualifications) and have an incredible understanding of the Abel Tasman area.
This peaceful, low-impact way of exploring the environment affords incredible opportunities to get up close and personal with the native wildlife. Keep an eye out for playful fur seals, little blue penguins and bottlenose dolphins.
