Picture this: you're at yoga, you've just manoeuvred into tree pose and you're feeling pretty blissed out, when a car honks outside, throwing you off balance and sending you to the floor. Sound familiar? If you're anything like me and have a hard time blocking out the din of the city to find complete stillness, Space Studio might be the sanctuary you're looking for.

Perched on top of Mount Victoria away from the hustle and bustle, Space is a lush new yoga and mindfulness studio dedicated to helping you relax and recharge. With its knockout views and welcoming vibes, this is the perfect place for sun salutations and a spot of soul searching.

Space is a passion project for owners Lana Bright and Oliver Ferry, who have lived on Mt Vic for 20 years and feel closely connected to the land. They wanted to share their beautiful surrounds with others, and as keen yogis they decided opening a yoga studio was the way to bring their passions together. Space was born earlier this year. With its clean, calming aesthetics and oodles of natural light, this gorgeous studio has been designed so members can be inspired by the landscape and feel rejuvenated and uplifted.

And they've nailed it — it's hard not to feel zen when you gaze out the windows at postcard perfect vistas of Welly's harbour and hills.

Whether you're a beginner yogi or borderline professional, Space is a place you can challenge yourself or chill. The studio serves up a blend of classes to suit all levels and abilities — from nourishing yin to energising yang, yoga for a healthy lower back, a sleepy restorative version, and one method specifically designed with a cyclist's target muscle groups in mind. Whatever your style, the lineup of skillful and caring teachers will bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable.

For those looking for a deeper experience, the studio also holds regular events including mindfulness sessions, teaching workshops and retreats. They're even offering a special four-day New Year's Eve yoga and mindfulness retreat.

So if you fancy saluting the sun at sunset, or you're after a serene spot to master your downward dog, take a place at Space.

Find Space Studio at 8 Lookout Road, Mount Victoria.
