Overview

Don McGlashan should not be underestimated. As well as being responsible for a multitude of hits within the New Zealand songbook and the IRD/WINZ hold compilation, ‘The Don’ is the owner of two prestigious Sliver Scroll songwriting awards, several NZ Music Awards, and has supplied the soundtracks for a countless number of films, television shows and dance productions.

This year he released his third solo album. Self-described as his “most personal album yet”, Lucky Stars was written with an idea of stillness and isolation in mind at a bach on the Thames Estuary, before being realised in the studio alongside fellow Mutton Birds band member David Long, guitarist Tom Rodwell and Chris O’Connor on the skins.

As well as agreeing that it may be his most personal offering, the NZ Herald went on to call it his "best solo set yet" and gave it an unheard of five star rating.

To mark the release, McGlashan will perform a string of dates around the country. He will be joined on stage by both Tom Rodwell and Chris O’Connor for two sets each night.
