Overview

Fancy yourself as a bit of an artist? Ever fantasised about meeting someone while sketching on the wharf? Well, Waterfront Auckland is making dreams come true this summer with Drawing Club on Queens Wharf.

Drawing club is a series of monthly outdoor drawing sessions brought to you by creative events whizz Cleo Barnett, the brains behind First Thursdays on K’ Rd. It’s part of an outdoor summer events calendar for the greater waterfront area. The programme features a range of activities and entertainment–art installations, performances, music and food–and the waterfront view comes free of charge.

You can find the gang down at Queens Wharf on the last Thursday of the month, January through March. They provide the mood – the model, the music and the setting. This month you can look forward to a hand-painted backdrop and a cacti theme. All you have to bring is some paper, a pencil, and your creativity. Dig out that unused sketch book you bought 2 years ago or raid the stationery cupboard and head on down.
