Overview

If you’d rather be soaking up rays in the tropical Caribbean than sitting idly in Auckland whilst the temperature slowly but surely descends to freezing point, then maybe you should just make believe at the this summer’s Silo Sessions finale, the Rice and Beans Festival. If you’re already familiar with the returning celebration of all things Latin America, then you’ll remember loud music, crazy dancing and good food. So we’re stoked to see its return.

Check out some authentic talent from the culture of honour itself - as DJ Paulao of Sao Paulo, Brazil plays a set made up of the hottest tunes from his homeland. The Cumbia Cosmonauts are jumping the ditch from Melbourne, made up of artists Saca La Mois DJ and Soup and known for futuristic cumbia sounds that could've come straight from the heart of the Amazon. There is also some local talent lined up, including DJ Bobby Brazuka and Chica Licorica, both of whom specialise in tropical tunes that are sure to complement the Brazilian Divas, who are dancing the event away with authentic samba moves.

All your usual Silo Market offerings will be on site to keep you fed, as well as some more topical and tropical cuisines if you’re wanting to fully indulge in the cultural experience. The bar promises to be fully stocked. Don’t hold back, and by the end of the night you’ll be samba-ing with the best of them.
