Overview

The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning spirituality and wine is probably the tale of how Jesus transformed water into a bucket of vino for his homies. But the holistic and theological significance of wine, as it was in the beginning, delves much further.

On 9 February, forward-thinking Auckland parish, St Matthew-in-the-City, will offer wine lovers a 'communion with a twist'. The event will see renowned speaker, theologian and wine maker Dr Gisela Kreglinger, host an evening of wine tasting, food and discussion. We're not talking about holy grape juice, the discussion will be accompanied by a range of organic New Zealand wines selected by Nick — wine expert and co-owner of Ponsonby's Golden Dawn.

Through the blend of talk and tasting, participants will be reminded how wine, feasting, passion and joy are inextricably linked. All welcome.
