Overview

Tourmente is a video art insulation that is being installed in level 2 of Aotea Centre for three months. It is designed by artist Jean Dubois and consists of video portraits of people from Montreal. Passers buy can interact with these portraits through their mobile phones or by blowing into the microphone. The video portrait reacts with a proportional gust of wind on the face of the subject in the picture.

Dubios is an internationally acclaimed digital artist. In this exhibition he has curated his portraits to represent the diversity that tends to define large metropolises like Montrieal and Auckland. Previous works of his have been exhibited all over the world, from the Studio national d’art contemporain in France to the Shanghai International Gallery Exhibition of Media Arts in China.

Tourmente will celebrate its opening on Wednesday the 27th of May from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Go along to hear from Digital Art Live Programme Developer Nolwenn Lacire, artist Jean Dubois, and listen to DJ James Risbey.
