Overview

Boutique hotel The Hotel Britomart has announced its first Winemaker in Residence for 2024: Cloudy Bay, a vineyard famous for producing award-winning sauvignon blanc. The vineyard is part of the esteemed Marlborough wine region and can be found at the top of the South Island, a short distance from Blenheim.

To celebrate the first Winemaker in Residence series of the year, The Hotel Britomart will be hosting two events: a taster and a dinner. At the taster, which will take place on Wednesday, January 31, guests will have the chance to sample four of Cloudy Bay's best wines, including an exclusive sip of Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc vintage.

The casual tasting will be hosted by Cloudy Bay winemaker Nikolai St George and the hotel's fine wine director David Nash, who will be ready and willing to answer any questions. To make sure the tastings don't go straight to your head, The Hotel Britomart's restaurant, kingi, will be serving nibbles to accompany the vino.

The dinner, which will be held the following night on Thursday, February 1, is a more formal occasion, with wine enthusiasts indulging in a five-course degustation meal created by executive chef Andrew Lautenbach. The meal will be paired with vintages of Cloudy Bay's premium wines, Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc and Te Wahi Pinot Noir, as well as a brand new chardonnay and Pelorus and Pelorus Rosé sparkling wines.
