Overview

One rarely automatically thinks of France when they consider cinema, although the first filmmakers in history were in fact French. The Lumiere brothers patented the cinematograph, which was a device that allowed simultaneous viewing of the filmic same production by numerous parties at once.  And since their revolution of the film industry, the French have produced countless classics and talented producers, and continue to do so, some of which are set to show at the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival.

Wellington’s nod to the French film industry is playing its fourth year in 2015, and its attendance has increased five fold since its inception, making Alliance Francaise one of the largest French film festivals in the world.

The Embassy Theatre will screen some of the most successful French films produced over the year, including The Belier Family, with renowned French actors Francois Damiens and Karin Viard. Sponsored by L’Oreal Paris, upgrade your ticket to receive a bag of product from the French makeup brand and a complimentary glass of wine.
