Overview

Autumn may be fast approaching but do not despair. Instead, rejoice at the first New Zealand outing of Sad by Sad South, a three-day mini-festival that will make you feel all warm and cosy. Following the success of Sad by Sad West in Melbourne and Sydney, Papati and Lesstalk Records are bringing the festival across the ditch. Sad by Sad South focuses on collaborative art, embracing a mantra of all ages, all art forms and all people.

With over thirty poetry and musical performances, SXSS really does have something for everyone. Musical highlights include Auckland pop-punk duo Carb on Carb, Melbourne born chanteuse Jess Locke and the illustrious Grayson Gilmour. As for the poets, check out Joy Holley and Hera Lindsey Bird (who's poem Monica is one of the best things I've heard all year). SXSS looks to be anything but the best little festival you've never heard of but destined to become a Wellington favourite in the years to come. See you there.
