Overview
Starting his career off as a thirteen year old kid knocking together some old turn tables and selling top 40 mix tapes to his classmates, it can’t be denied that DJ Revolution is a true industry veteran.
Fifteen years perfecting his work on the 1200s, DJ Revolution has pretty much done the lot - scratching, producing, distributing, mixing, there aren’t too many boxes left unticked. Naming DJ Red Alert, Joe Cooley, Cash Money, and Jazzy Jeff as his main inspiration for pursuing a career in music, DJ Revolution was a pioneer of the craft at a time when people were still becoming accustomed to rap as a genre. His sound has now grown into a cohesive arrangement of scratch, hip hop and rap.
The LA based DJ is mostly known nowadays for his DJ residency with Sway and King Tech on their nationally syndicated hip hop radio section The Wake Up Show – reaching a casual 12 million listeners each week. Along with this weekly segment, DJ Revolution lends out his now infamous scratch techniques for collaborations with many established artists including Dilated Peoples, Canibus, Chino XL, Tha Alkaholiks, Mystic and Bootcamp Click.
Legitimately laying claim to the title ‘King of the Decks’, Fu Bar can expect to see DJ Revolution throw down a faultless set this week. The Rugby World Cup has seen us scrap any excuse for not heading out mid week. However, with this gig being on a Saturday, there is no reason at all not to be there. Get along and see one of the most globally recognised underground hip hop DJ perform what will undoubtedly be a first class show.
