Diwali Festival of Lights
Diwali is a celebration of love, life and light. And for the pyromaniacs amongst us, rad fireworks.
Overview
Auckland is as well known for its cultural diversity as its sails, and while many of you will have had the chance to experience the cultural diversity of the Rugby World Cup's nations, one country that doesn't feature so prominently in burly, mud-covered rugby players is India.
But lucky for us, India's most loved festival, Diwali (a.k.a the festival of lights) will infect Aotea Square this weekend. Diwali is a celebration of love, life and light and for the pyromaniacs amongst us, rad fireworks. Least of all, endless rows of food stalls will provide spicy, salty, oily curries and fragrant sugary Indian sweets, to maintain your energy while you are entertained by Bollywood dancers and traditional music.
If you're anywhere near Aotea Square this Saturday or Sunday, it'll be hard to miss arguably one of the loudest, most colourful and tasty festivals to be hosted in Auckland.
