Overview

My name is Ben Polkinghorne and I love burritos. No, I really, really love burritos. So much so that last year I began a page on Facebook called the Auckland Burrito Review (ABR) and set out around the city, trying to visit every burrito retailer so I could try their wares.

24 reviews and nearly 1,200 likes later, I set myself a challenge. Rather, Mexicali Fresh set me a challenge. Could I survive on nothing other than their food for a month? I had no idea, but I was willing to give it a shot. The month is soon to be drawing to a close – and what a month it has been.

I’ve been blogging as I go, describing the experience and so forth and you might want to take a look. Click here to read all about it.

This Friday the challenge culminates in a bit of a celebration as I sit down for my last meal and it seemed like a good excuse for a party. So a party there shall be, at the Viaduct Mexicali Fresh store. 15% of all profits are going to be donated to help support CanTeen, there’ll be food and drink specials, premium tequila tastings and, perhaps most excitingly of all, a burrito eating competition.

Not for the faint of heart, this burrito weighs over 2.5 pounds. $20 buys you your shot at fame and the winner takes a $100 Mexicali Fresh gift card. RSVP to the Facebook event and go in the draw to win one of four gift cards.
