Whether you're a permanent teetotaller or you're just keen to see what non-alc options are on the market, a gorgeous new brick-and-mortar store in Ponsonby is expanding Auckland's zero percent bevvy space.

Opening Friday, November 23, the Curious AF Bottle Shop is the brainchild of AF Drinks and Eat My Lunch founder Lisa King. Equal parts shop and gallery, the stunning space gives an insight into just how expansive the international alcohol-free drink selection is these days — and shows just how few excuses our country's bars and restaurants have for offering nothing better than soda water.

If it sounds familiar, that's because the shop first launched as a pop-up in Ponsonby Central back in June. The venture was so successful, King said they knew it had to have a permanent home.

"We were blown away by its success," she said. "Across just a few short weeks, some 2000 people walked through our beautiful art gallery-inspired installation to discover what the Curious AF movement had to offer.

"And it didn't disappoint. In the first few weeks, we sold out of many product lines and received an overwhelming number of requests to make the pop-up permanent. Four months later, here we are."

Some favourites from the pop-up are making their return, including Vanderstreek IPA and Noughty Sparkling Rose. The Curious AF Bottle Shop is also set to bring back Kin Europhics, a nightcap that helps you relax which sold out within the first week of the pop-up.

Shoppers will be able to taste all of AF Drinks lineup to see what takes their fancy. If you're stuck for Christmas prezzie ideas it's also worth popping in —the store will be selling speciality ice moulds, garnishes, glassware and accessories.

Down the track, King hopes to host a series of unique events in the new space, including garnishing masterclasses, food-matching nights and beverage-themed sessions like margarita fiestas and aperitivo evenings.

The Curious AF Bottle Shop officially opens to the public at 5 Cummer Road, Ponsonby on Friday, November 18. It'll be open Monday through to Wednesday from 10am-5pm and Thursday through to Saturday from 10am-6pm.
