Overview

A new light and fire festival featuring international artists will land in Hawke's Bay from 18–22 November, 2020.

The inaugural Walk of Wonders, was the "lockdown brainchild," of light artist Anthony van Dorsten and Henry Gordon, owner of Black Barn Bistro.

Against the stunning backdrop of Black Barn Vineyards, the four-night festival will showcase 14 light, fire and audio works from New Zealand and international artists. Installations will be dotted along a two-kilometre walkway throughout the grounds and accompanied by a music score. The interactive walking experience is expected to take between one and two hours.

Led by van Dorsten's art company Vesica Aotearoa, Walk of Wonders will feature New Zealand artists Angus Muir, Creature Post, Vesica, Sight & Sound and Silo, as well as work from Oakland-based art collective Hybycozo.

While the event will run Wednesday through to Sunday, van Dorsten and Gordon have reserved Saturday night for a celebration with seasonal food, outdoor fires, drinks and music. During the festival, Black Barn Bistro will also offer a special event set menu for $40, in addition to festival ticket.

The inaugural Walk of Wonders runs from 18–22 November, 2020 with gates open from 4.30pm. Early bird tickets cost $15 for children and $35 for adults. For more information, visit walkofwonders.co.nz
