Overview

Keira Rathbone creates portraits and images with vintage manual typewriters. Rathbone also paints and draws but it is her typewriter art that has set her apart as a unique artist and created an internationally recognised niche.

“It’s an enjoyable process and a unique way of creating imagery,” she has admitted. No kidding. From a studio in Chiswick, London, Rathbone punches away at the punctuation, letters and numbers on her keyboard to create detailed images so intricate that they might just blow your mind. One picture can take up to 90 hours to create from start to finish.

She also takes part in festivals and art events and creates installation pieces where she typewrites images live to an audience. Her next live demonstration will be at Poole Literary Festival in Dorset on October 31st.
