The tenth edition of Artweek Auckland returns between 10–18 October to celebrate our city's diverse artistic community. Featuring exhibitions, happenings and workshops across ten precincts, each area aims to highlight its unique place in Auckland's artistic landscape. This year's eight-day celebration is packed with over 50 late-night events, free guided tours, drawing clubs, exhibitions and beverage tastings for art aficionados.

Highlights in the heart of the city include Late Night Art on Tuesday, 13 October — an evening affair where the streets come alive and galleries stay open after dark. A visit to Auckland Art Gallery will provide an opportunity to see the Civilisation, Photography, Now exhibition before it closes for good, and to witness three emerging choreographers perform original work. Night owls can also wander the streets through an art and light trail, engage with a village of interactive structures in the High Street district, and enjoy the sound of African drumming.

Unitec second-year architecture students will take over Windsor Park in Devonport with light installations created with zero waste and zero budget as part of GLOW@Artweek. For its sixth year the kaleidoscopic exhibition will feature playful light pavilions.

Interactive experiences during the week include absinthe tasting at {Suite} Gallery, a meditative art experience that incorporates colours and music, painting with adorable puppies, a digital journey into the tomb of Tutankhamun, life drawing in a gothic mansion, and sand art lessons in Muriwai.

Of course, there's plenty more on offer, from art markets to street gallery tours, film screenings, studio visits and exhibitions covering every artistic discipline under the sun.

Artweek Auckland will run from 10–18 October, 2020. For more information and the full program, visit artweekauckland.co.nz.
