As we previously noted, the world's most famous Dutch-spawned, juniper based spirit has made quite the resurgence in the past five years. So much so, that it even has it’s own day set aside on the calendar.

This Saturday, June 14 happens to be the sixth official World Gin Day. The lads from the locally produced artisan gin Rogue Society will be flying the gin flag for New Zealand this weekend and have whipped up five top notch recipes to get you through the day - and to prove that there’s more to a good gin mixer than just tonic...or juice.

1. Breakfast Martini

(Salvatore Calabrese, Library Bar – 1990s)

10.30am: No better way to get your daily dosage of marmalade and celebrate the start of what is going to be a fantastic World Gin Day.

  • 60ml Rogue Society Gin
  • 30ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 30ml Cointreau
  • 1 Bar Spoon Marmalade
  • Orange Zest

Shaken and fine strained into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with orange zest.

2. Red Snapper

(Regis Hotel – 1940)

12:05pm: The most productive and efficient means to lay the foundations of the day ahead, whilst also enjoy the nutritional values of brunch.

  • 60ml Rogue Society Gin
  • 60 Tomato Juice
  • 2 Bar Spoons of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Pinch of salt
  • 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Dash lemon juice
  • Cucumber Slice
  • Olive

Shaken and poured over fresh ice in a tall glass, garnished with a cucumber slice and olive.

3. Rogue & Tonic

(British Raj – Early 1800s)

3.30pm: Officially the afternoon, so perfect timing to nestle into a few Rogue & Tonics amongst likeminded people for a good chat.

  • 30ml Rogue Society Gin
  • Tonic
  • Wedge of orange

Glass packed with ice refreshingly stirred, topped with Tonic in a Rogue Society crystal glass.

4. White Lady

(Harry Craddock, Savoy cocktail book - 1930)

9:10pm: It's time to unwind, loosen the pocket square and request the Pulp Fiction theme song.

  • 45ml Rogue Society Gin
  • 30ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 20ml Cointreau
  • 15ml egg white
  • Lemon Zest

Shaken and fine strained into a chilled coupe glass, garnished with an edible flower.

5. Rogue Negroni

(Bar Casoni, Florence 1919)

10:45pm: Rich company is required as soon you will be showing off your new coin tricks and solving the world’s unsolved mysteries.

  • 30ml Rogue Society
  • 30ml Campari
  • 30ml Antica Formula
  • Orange Zest

Stirred and poured over ice in a Rogue Society crystal glass.

Only three months old, Rougue Society is currently stocked in around 70 of the countries top cocktail establishments and moving South as we speak. Pick up a bottle from any Glengarry’s store or by visiting:
