Overview

Following the launch of their flagship New Zealand store at 160 Ponsonby Rd last year, global, chunk-filled ice creamery Ben & Jerry's are bringing their infamous Openair Cinema enterprise to Auckland. More important, there will be FREE ICE CREAM* for all.

Every Friday and Sunday in February, the dessert aficionados will bring blockbuster films, live tunes and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to Auckland’s Western Springs Park. Each Friday will be a mini-music festival in its own right, with performances from some of New Zealand's newest and best-loved bands, artists and local DJs.

When the sun goes down the gigantic screen will be erected in the inner city oasis. The Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinema will comprise screenings of recent box-office hits: Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, The Hateful Eight, Joy, The Good Dinosaur, Sisters, as well as the 30th anniversary screening of Back to the Future. The 'Sundae Sessions' will also be your opportunity to grab a complimentary scoop of Ben & Jerry's, as well as take part in outdoor games.

For those of age, there will be a fully licensed bar on hand with a selection of Giesen wines, Monteith’s Beer, Rekorderlig Cider and free samples of Aperol Spritz. Ponsonby eatery Farina will also be serving up their pared-back Italian cuisine.

Visit the Ben & Jerry's Openair Cinema website for more information.

*Free ice cream is only available on the Sunday screenings.
