Overview
He's best known as the sauce loving guy from My Kitchen Rules, but now celebrity chef Manu Feildel is bringing his culinary finesse to New Zealand cinemas.
You won't find him operating the popcorn machine; as part of Hoyts Lux's premium experience, Feildel intends to bring "restaurant quality food to the casual dining experience." The menu has been inspired his French heritage, while staying true to greasy classics that people expect when visiting the cinema.
Look beyond overpriced drinks and the selection of sugary snacks you stuffed into your handbag beforehand, the new menu will offer cinema-goers enhanced dishes like a trio of steamed buns filled with confit duck, cucumber pickle, ginger mayo and smoky hoisin sauce.
Feidel's spin on traditional cinema favourites include a classic cheeseburger, loaded fries, thin base pizza, Southern-style fried chicken and an entire wheel of baked Camembert. You'll also be able to enjoy sequel #20 of your favourite superhero franchise with sweet finishers like chocolate and hazelnut Malteser sundae, lemon cheesecake and chocolate soufflé.
The dishes can be purchased individually or as part of a multi-course set menu. A bottle of house wine can be thrown in for $20.
The new menu will be available at Hoyts Botany Downs and Sylvia Park in Auckland and Te Awa in Hamilton. To see the full menu or book tickets, visit hoyts.co.nz.
