If you ain't dirty, you ain't here to party.

Overview

An oft-encountered problem with thousands of souls descending on a music festival is the creation, and consequential hard slog through, mud. At Mudtopia Festival, rolling around in that brown sloppy goo is the main objective.

While organisers state they modelled the event on South Korea's Boryeong Mud Festival, we like to think they took their cue from the lyrics of international pop-diva Christina Aguilera, "If you ain't dirty, you ain't here to party."

Mudtopia will make its debut in mud pool and geothermal hotspot, Rotorua, from December 1-3, 2017, promising three days of mud, music and mud-infused wellness. Finer details are still light on the ground but we can tell you that there will be things like a mud arena, a mud games zone, a mud run, mud massages, mud yoga and a mud stage with a specially curated lineup of musical acts. It's yet to be confirmed whether Mudtellica, One Dirt-rection, Midnight Soil or A$AP Mucky will make an appearance.

The festival will also be in close proximity to Rotorua's infamous tourist activities and mountain biking trails, making for the ultimate adventure weekend. It's probably best to leave your designer threads at home.

Mudtopia Festival will take place at Rotorua's Arawa Park Racecourse from December 1-3, 2017. To register for presales and for more information, visit mudtopia.com.
