Reasons to Go to McLaren Falls Festival Include a Waterfall, Disclosure, a Glow Worm Forest and Kurt Vile
Expect everything from indie rock slackers to a psychedelic hip-hop electro boy band.
The music and arts festival vowing to "bring a taste of Glastonbury and Coachella to the Pacific," has announced the first 20 acts of its line-up.
The inaugural McLaren Falls Music & Arts Festival will be held over three days at the Bay of Plenty’s McLaren Falls Park next January 10 - 12.
Seasoned festival organiser Paxton Talbot has pulled through with his promise to deliver a genre-blending line-up of international and local acts. Spanning a wide range of genres, the first line-up includes UK electronic duo Disclosure, colourful psychedelic band The Flaming Lips, Sydney EDM DJ Alison Wonderland, Philadelphia indie rock slacker Kurt Vile, ‘Liberian/Nigerian/Scottish psychedelic hip-hop electro boy band Young Fathers, Australian blues singer C.W. Stoneking, alt-pop band The Preatures and dream pop songwriter Jordan Léser.
The New Zealand line-up includes David Dallas & The Daylight Robbery, The Datsuns, The Phoenix Foundation, Avalanche City, Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders, Tiny Ruins, P-Money, Racing, The Eastern, Fazerdaze, Arthur Ahbez, and seminal Dunedin band The Chills coinciding with the release of their first new album in 19 years. More acts are yet to be announced.
The all ages festival aims to attract 10,000 people to the 190 hectares of parkland below the Kaimai Ranges. Making the most of the site's other-worldly setting, camping will be available in close proximity to a lake, a waterfall and a glow-worm forest.
