Hollywood funny-man Michael Cera has proved that his creative juices flow far beyond the craft of acting by releasing a surprise album of his own material via Bandcamp.

Cera is best known for his roles in films Superbad and Juno, as well as the TV series Arrested Development. His Superbad co-star Jonah Hill first unveiled the album via Twitter saying, "My great friend Michael Cera not only is a brilliant actor, he also makes great music. Check it out," along with the first track from Cera's album, an instrumental called 'uhohtrouble'.

The 18-track album called True That is lo-fi in nature and spans genres indie, folk, and piano doodles. He has tagged it as alternative, dirty, hello, home recording, modest music. New York. The album is mostly instrumental, though Cera's breezy vocals can be heard a number of on tracks, including 'Clay Pigeons' a cover of American songwriter Blaze Foley. True That has a price tag of $US7, with three bonus tracks upon purchase.
