Overview

Summer has well and truly taken hold, and unlike last summer, she doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. So soak up the sun and sand with a small selection of some of the best new tracks of the past couple of months, and feel free to follow us on RDIO for a selection of music for the Concrete Playground. Enjoy.

Foals - My Number

‘My number’ is the second single off Holy Fire, Foals’ 3rd studio album, and an absolute essential for any summer playlist. It’s a seriously catchy tune with a lyrical hook that will have you singing along from first listen. Check out the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs remix while you’re at it.

Fake Blood – All in the Blink

Theo Keating, a.k.a Fake Blood, dropped his first full length release late last year after a busy few years that included numerous remixes, a couple of EP’s, and a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. All in the Blink is the second single off the album and is a sure fire dance floor filler.

Youth Lagoon – Dropla

Youth Lagoon produced one of the breakout albums of 2011 with his debut release The Year of Hibernation. Not bad for the then 22 year old who recorded much of the album in his bedroom. Dropla is the first single off his new album and continues where Year of Hibernation left off with dreamy synths and a haunting vocal. Perfect for the lazy Sunday afternoons in the sun.

Toro Y Moi – Say that

Toro Y Moi recently kicked off 2013 with the release of his third LP, Anything in Return. ‘Say that’ is a standout funk filled gem of a track that will ease you into any weekend. Get involved.

Flume – Left alone

Sydneysider Flume has spent the summer tearing up stages across Australia and New Zealand on the back of his debut self titled LP. For ‘Left alone’ he teams up with fellow Australian Chet Faker to produce a slow burning banger of a track. Catch Flume at St Jerome's Laneway 2013.

Tame Impala- Feels Like We Only Go Backwards (Memory Tapes Remix)

Another Laneway act and one of the standout tracks of 2012. Feels Like We Only Go Backwards has been given a slight rework by New Jersey based Memory Tapes. The melancholy remains but is countered with a more upbeat tempo than the original, another winner for a lazy summers day.

Two Door Cinema Club – Sun (Kitsune Club Night Remix)

Sun was one of the highlights off Beacon, Two Door Cinema club’s second LP release, and it was only a matter of time until the remixes started to drop. With a driving bass line and synth dominated chorus the Kitsune remix is a perfect way to kick off the weekend.
