An indie line-up to rule them all has been unveiled for a festival taking place along Auckland’s most infamous nightlife strip.
The day-long Others Way Festival will give K'Rd Road an extra burst of life on September 4, with a mammoth 27 local alternative acts performing across six venues: The Studio, Galatos Main Room, Galatos Basement, Whammy Bar, Wine Cellar and the Flying Out Stock Room. Organisers say inspiration for the wide-spread festival experience was taken from international music festivals like CMJ and SXSW.
The most exciting addition to the line-up is iconic New Zealand rock band Garageland who will take the stage for the first time since 2007. The band are best known for their album, Last Exit To Garageland, which hit number three in the charts and spun off ‘90s anthems, ‘Fingerpops’ and ‘Beelines to Heaven’.
Enigmatic songwriter Kody Nielson will perform material under his latest moniker Silicon. With two singles under his belt and an album in the wings, the project has seen Nielson gain a record deal from Domino Records and attention from across the globe.
The festival also boasts performances from dream-pop band Yumi Zouma, haunting folk singer Aldous Harding, indie pop act Princess Chelsea, influential Auckland band Solid Gold Hell, and Christchurch electro-psych seven-piece Doprah.
The full line-up includes:
Aldous Harding, Avoid Avoid, Bespin, Carb On Carb, Caroles, Chelsea Jade, Doprah, Fazerdaze, Garageland, Glass Vaults, Ghost Wave, Heavy, Little Bark, LVJ, Miss June, PHF, Princess Chelsea, Robert Scott, Sere, Silicon, Solid Gold Hell, Street Chant, Supervillans, The Bats, The Moonlight, Tiny Ruins, Yumi Zouma and Zen Mantra.
