While they could’ve just purchased some mini cocktail umbrellas and slapped up a replica palm tree, organisers of the Britomart Beach Party are going the full nine yards with their beach theme this year by shipping 20 tonnes of sand into the CBD. It's going to be a rough start to 2016 for the clean-up squad.

As per usual the block party will be spread across six sand-filled venues in the Britomart Precinct to ring in the new year - including BCC, 1885, Northern Steamship, Orleans, Racket and Roukai Lane.

Entertainment will be provided courtesy of legendary hip hop artist Che Fu, a trimmed-back version of neo-soul act Sola Rosa, Kora frontman Laughton Kora, Auckland by-the-way-of Samoa rapper King Kapisi, DJ G.U.R.I of Brazil, and a whole lot more. Taiko Drummers will lead the countdown to 2016 with a thumping live performance.

We have two double passes to the Britomart Beach Party up for grabs together with some Havaianas flip flops to make you look the part. For the runners up we also have five pairs of Havaianas to give away.

To enter the draw, simply email [email protected] with the subject line ‘Britomart Beach Party’ along with your contact details.

T&Cs: Only one entry per person. You must be a Concrete Playground subscriber to win. R18 only. The winner will be chosen at 10:30am on December 8.
