Summer is looking all the more closer as the festival line-ups and announcements come in droves. The now-annual Splore festival is scheduled to take place over three days next February (20-22) in the pristine Tapapakanga Regional Park - an easy 70km drive out of Auckland.

As well as encouraging creative expression and sustainability, the festival gets extra brownie points for allowing attendees to get hitched on-sight and have a dip in the ocean while watching DJs and party bands take the stage.

The first artist line-up for Splore has been announced and includes Wellington soul-band Trinity Roots, who will return to the festival for the first time in 11 years. The band will debut songs from their forthcoming third album. Toronto beat-maker also leads the bill Lunice, joining Basement Jaxx lead singer Sharlene Hector and producer Jason Eli, UK duo The Correspondents, London hip hop legend Rodney P and Italian swing DJ Dr Cat.

Local acts include Race Banyon, Samuel Truth, Labretta Suede and the Motel 6, The Hipstamatics, the Wellington Sea Shanty Band, and DJs Hudge, Kev Fresh, Dan Aux, RIA, KXVGXN, Play DJs, Dastardly Bounder and Logan Baker. More international and local acts will be announced in October.
