Overview
Six60 will become the first band to headline Auckland's Eden Park next month. The announcement comes after an independent panel decided in February that the country's largest stadium will be able to host up to six concerts a year.
The much-loved rock, roots, reggae band will bring its Six60 Saturdays series to Eden Park on Saturday, April 24. The 50,000-capacity stadium shouldn't be a problem for the five-piece. This year alone they have played in front of 100,000 fans across five outdoor summer concerts. They also previously made history as the first New Zealand group to sell out Western Springs Stadium in 2019.
Previous concert applications at the 118-year-old stadium have been met with strong opposition from local residents. Six60 have been vocal about hosting concerts at the stadium. Eden Park Chief Executive Officer Nick Sautner says the first concert at Eden Park is a significant milestone for both staff and community.
"Six60's support throughout the resource consent process has been felt across our business, so it is entirely fitting they headline our concert debut at this iconic 118-year old venue. Only 50,000 fans will have the opportunity to be part of history, and the biggest show in the world right here in Aotearoa."
The Six60 Saturdays Auckland show will take place at Eden Park on Saturday, April 24. A backup date has been set for Saturday, October 23, 2021. Tickets go on sale at 12pm on Monday, March 22 from Ticketmaster, with a Spark customers pre-sale available from Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
