Overview

Shore dwellers, your time has come. From the promoters of swanky mid-year party The Highlife Winter Social and Fiesta Del Sol comes a new summer festival in the heart of the North Shore showcasing the best local food, wine and music.

The inaugural Takapuna Food, Wine & Music Festival will take place on Saturday 10 February, 2018. Festival Director Adam Bennett of Highlife Entertainment says the one-day festival will combine the best aspects of traditional food and wine festivals and music events to produce an entirely new experience.

The expansive lawn areas of "next generation neighbourhood", Smales Farm, will provide a relaxed festival vibe in the convenience of Takapuna. The event has capacity for up to 5000 people.

Those who meet the R20 restriction can expect to soak up wine from Waiheke, Kumeu, Marlborough and Queenstown. Wine partners already onboard include: Man O War, Obsidian, Cloudy Bay and Veuve Clicquot. For those looking to dabble in something other than vino, craft beer will also be a main attraction — featured breweries include: Riverhead's Hallertau, Wellington's Garage Project and Kapiti's Tuatara.

Where there's drink, there's food. Sustenance providers signed up for the occasion include slow 'n' low barbecue eatery Miss Moonshines, plant-based burger makers Wise Boys Burgers, European chippery Double Dutch Fries and Langos Hungarian fried bread, among several other first-rate local food vendors.

Music is also a core focus of the event, and organisers are flying in Sydney dance group Sneaky Sound System to headline the mainstage. Joining them will be Sola Rosa, Nathan Haines, Jordan Luck Band, Hipstamatics and Latin Aotearoa.

The Takapuna Food, Wine and Music Festival will take place on Saturday 10 February at Smales Farm, Takapuna, 11am–7pm. First release tickets are $55 plus booking fee. For the full lineup, more information and tickets visit the festival website.
