    Documentary Edge Festival 2012

    Thursday, April 26 - Sunday, May 13, 2012

    Event Cinemas Newmarket, Newmarket

If you are more than a little weary of television’s daily diet of mind-numbing reality shows, then the 7th Auckland Documentary Edge Festival will give you the chance to sink your teeth into 18 days’ worth of substantial and informative films that look, well, really good. An eclectic mix of 72 films from over 30 countries will be on offer, ranging from Culture Vultures, a showcase of documentaries examining the worlds of music, art, social media and film, to Arab Spring: Lifting the Veil, giving you an insight into, not only the revolutions that have taken place, but the daily life of ordinary people in Egypt and Lebanon. And don’t forget the New Zealand offerings. The the biggest local film, Yakel 3D, explores the beauty of a remote village in Vanuatu and one of the last primitive cultures left in today's society.
