Think feisty tattooists and off-beat cross stitch creations taking over Grey Lynn this Sunday.

Overview

Forget fusty old ladies and 70s’ macramé wall hangings and think feisty tattooists and off-beat cross stitch creations. Curious? Then check out the Kraftbomb craft fair in Grey Lynn this Sunday, run by two crafty ladies, “bad-ass vegan cupcake maker”, City Down, and tattooist Karla Hansen. In 2008, they saw a gap in the market for a regular, monthly, craft fair in central Auckland, which would give talented crafters a chance to showcase their creations.

But it’s highly unlikely you’ll come across a frilly, crocheted toilet roll holder here, because there’s an emphasis on the quirky and alternative with a strong focus on recycling and upcycling. You’re more likely to drool over beautiful handmade earrings, clothes, plush ‘Geek Freak’ toys and home-made lemonade and sherbert. In its 4th year, the market is now so popular that crafters apply in their numbers for a stall and buyers visit from all over town.
