From New York deli to New York bar— the former home of Blunderbuss in Takapuna has come full circle transforming into another US-influenced establishment. Though, this time instead of shifting pizza slices, the space will specialise in cocktails and meatballs as Bedford Soda and Liquor II: The North Shore edition.

The new Takapuna opening repeats the winning formula of the popular flagship bar in Ponsonby Central: industrial chic, New York street food, and a stunning cocktail menu featuring things like hand blown glass globes and cauldrons filled with clouds of maple smoke.

Refreshed seasonally, the cocktail menu is something that has put Bedford squarely on the map and Instagram feeds everywhere— attracting some of the country's most talented mixologists in the process. The new opening launches with the autumn/winter offerings, including the Second Amendment made with Gunpowder Rum, white rum, watermelon, Aperol, orgeat syrup and lime, and the Strawberry Americano with Campari, sweet vermouth and a spiced strawberry shrub.

The food is staunchly 'American' and the tick-your-own meal menu lets diners choose their preferred combination of meatballs, sliders, subs, mac 'n' cheese, tater tots and fries. If the Ponsonby version is anything to go by, Bedford Takapuna will be a great addition to thriving strip.
