Christchurch is renowned for its live music scene and the Darkroom represents the city's commitment to getting out and enjoying good music. The first place to open after the earthquakes, it became a symbol of creativity and tenacity in the wake of destruction. There are free gigs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The stage is tiny but the eclectic mix of music from jazz to heavy metal and everything in between means no one misses out. Grab a beer — there are local microbrews on tap and in the fridge — and enjoy some tunes.
