Auckland may be filled with rolling hills, volcanos and steep roads, but if you’re not much of a hillclimber when it comes to two wheels, it’s time to get on your bike and embrace the flat roads around our getaway gateway - Auckland Airport.

One of the Airport’s first cycling initiatives is a piece of practical street art to lock your bike to. The funky Car Bike Port converts one car park into cycle parking for ten people and is perfect for weekend riders and the 20,000 airport workers. Whether you’re leisurely making your way to the Airport or part of a bigger group doing the neighbourhood loop, this sleek bike rack will have you taking a stand against Auckland’s deep love of driving cars.

No more chaining your bike to random street signs and lamp posts, it’s time to have dedicated bike parking in Auckland and add a bit of design flair into the mix - and boy does this innovative bike rack have design flair credentials. Coming all the way from the illustrious London Festival of Architecture the Car Bike Port was designed by Cyclehoop and currently jazzes up cities all across Europe. It also includes a nifty air pump for those slightly deflated tyre moments.

Auckland Airport have installed theirs outside the Jamaica Blue café on Leonard Isitt Drive - so why not make it a coffee stop on your Jaffa-esque bicycle tour of our Southern City?
