Overview

As part of the monthly 95bFM Breakfast Club, and because it’s never too early to treat your ear drums to a bit of music, Auckland student radio station 95bFM will broadcast live from Real Groovy Records on August 28 with two live bands in tow.

Kicking off proceedings at 8.15am will be Wellington duo Electric Wire Hustle. The performance comes off the back of the pair releasing their new Aeons EP, which sees a collaboration with colourful songstress Kimbra. The band, who rarely perform in NZ, have turned heads across the globe with their ever-evolving blend of future funk, soul and R&B.

New Gum Sarn will take the stage at 8.40am. Originally called Small Boys, indie-rock four-piece changed their name to that of a Chinese supermarket off K’Road. The band have had a good run of success in their short life span, including a deal with Australian label Spunk Records for the release of their debut album.

For dedicated early risers, the live broadcast will start at 6am with breakfast hosts Max and Vince on hand alongside the regular morning team. BCard holders will be treated to free coffee and apparently “some kind of food experience with a Barbecue and HP Sauce.”
