The Art Of Black Grace
The Art of Black Grace is a new way to appreciate Pasifika art through moving images, dance and technology.
Overview
Dance company Black Grace is launching The Art of Black Grace on Monday, November 27, bringing Pasifika art and stories to life through the use of trailblazing technology.
The second iteration of this exhilarating exhibition will encompass everything Black Grace has become known for, with dance company founder Neil Ieremia producing yet another mesmerising project, cementing his place as one of New Zealand's best creatives.
The Art of Black Grace tells the story of Ieremia's childhood in the Pacific Islands, from his parents' aloha shirts and mu'umu'u dresses, to the tropical environment that was the backdrop of his early years.
Shying away from the dance company's traditional expression of art through dance, the show begins as soon as patrons walk through the door, incorporating the dancers into a moving art and music exhibition adorning the venue's walls.
The Art of Black Grace launches at the Atrium on Takutai, Britomart on Monday, November 27. The dynamic exhibition will be able to be enjoyed by the public at all times, until it finishes up on Sunday, December 3.
