Artists expose the taboo industry.

Overview

Twenty New Zealand artists expose the gendered and raced conventions of the porn industry in A Different View: Artists address pornography. The exhibition brings together new and existing artworks by both well-established artists, like Judy Darragh, Yvonne Todd, Reuben Paterson and Rohan Wealleans, and those newer to the scene.

The show comprises a diverse range of contemporary pieces, from painting to performance. Curated by Linda Tyler, with Virginia Braun and Nicola Gavey, A Different View addresses sexism and racism within the production, representation and consumption of mainstream pornography. Artist talks and panel discussions will take place every Saturday at 1.00pm for the duration of the exhibition. Check out the programme here.

A Different View coincides with the New Zealand premier of the documentary: Love and Sex in an Age of Pornography. The screenings is on Thursday 12 September at The University of Auckland. Click here for details.
