Overview

Direct from New York, Air Play is a circus-style show from the creatives behind Cirque du Soleil. Silent comedians Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone team up with kinetic air sculptor Daniel Wurtzel to combine circus and science in this homage to the power of air.

Expect flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience, oversized snow globes and huge sheets of dancing silk kept in motion by carefully placed fans.

The show follows two siblings as they journey through a surreal land of air, transforming the ordinary into objects of uncommon beauty. Fabrics dance in the wind, balloons have a mind of their own, confetti turns into the night sky, and an enormous canopy of hovering silk brings to life the very air we breathe.

Air Play lands at Takapuna's Bruce Mason Centre this October.
